Church Service ~ August 10th, 2008, Bahamas Faith Ministries International (BFMI) new!!!
Every year during our program we take time out of our busy pageant schedule to give God thanks for his faithfulness. Our contestants visited Bahamas Faith Ministries International for this year's Church Service. After Church all of our ladies were treated to an exquisite lunch at Seaside Buffet in the Wyndham Resort!  click here for photos
 

Float Parade ~ Saturday August 9th, 2008, New Providence  new!!!
 With just just one (1) week left before the final night of competition, our contestants paraded through the streets of the capital in the Annual Float Parade! The Float Parade began at Town Centre Mall, headed North on Blue Hill Road, East onto Bay Street, South on Victoria Avenue, West on Shirley Street, South on East Street, East on Wulff Road and South on Marathon Road - ending at the Mall at Marathon. Once at the Mall at Marathon our contestants were greeted by the U.S. Ambassador to The Bahamas His Excellency Ned Seigel & his wife Stephanie Seigel.  click here for photos

Talent Competition - Fast Track Award ~ Sunday August 3rd, 2008, Salon II & III Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino
The second round of preliminary competitions was the Talent Extraveganza! Our contestants danced, sang, played instruments, made poetry recitals and dramatizations and so much more! At the end of the evening Miss Teen Bimini Lathyra Tinker walked away with Best Talent which affords her an automatic Fast Track Spot into our prestigious Top 13! 1st runner-up Miss Teen Ragged Island Shanice Burrows, 2nd runner-up Miss Teen Exuma Ashley Hamilton.

GO GREEN ...Environmental Seminar!!! ~ Saturday August 2nd, 2008, Inagua Room, Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino new!!!
After completing their morning Beach Clean-up Initiative, our contestants were given some pertinent information about the environment. They learnt about the dangers of litter, how litter as affected countries around the world, the possible impact of "out-of-control" littering in The Bahamas and various ways to keep The Bahamas clean!  click here for photos

GO GREEN ...South Beach Clean-Up!!! ~ Saturday August 2nd, 2008, South Beach, New Providence new!!!
This year our organization has taken on the responsibility to ensure that all of our contestants understand the importance of keeping the environment clean. With this in mind we created a very special day, "GO GREEN...SOUTH BEACH CLEAN-UP" to tackle one of the most dirtiest beaches on the island; giving our contestants a chance to get their hands a little dirty! Our organization was joined by the Minister of State for the Ministry of The Environment Hon. Phenton Neymour who not only gave our ladies a few pointers on the environment, but also joined up with them in their cleaning initiative!

Contestant Fun Day ~ Wednesday July 30th, 2008, New Providence new!!!
With the first round of preliminary competitions behind them, our ladies enjoy their Contestant Fun Day....and what an exciting day it turned out to be. The morning started off with an historical tour of Forte Charlotte, contestants then went over to Arawak Cay for an afternoon Daiquiri at Twin Brothers, they visited the world famous Straw Market, took a few pictures in Rawson & Parliament Squares, enjoyed a Horse'N'Carriage ride through the streets of the capital and the day was topped off with a visit to Galleria Cinemas to kick back and relax and enjoy the movie of their choice!  click here for photos

BLACK OPAL Spokesmodel Competition ~ Sunday July 27th, 2008, Salon IV Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino
The first round of preliminary competition begins with the Spokesmodel Competition! This competition is geared towards training our contestants to shine in the spotlight of a thousand cameras should any of them encounter a campaign to become a spokesperson for a product or company in the future. As for the winner of this event, she will become the official spokeswoman for Nair Products in The Bahamas. This wonderful opportunity has been made available to our organization by our generous sponsor Commonwealth Drugs Limited. Our 18 ladies will compete in three (3) categories: Short Speech on a youth issue, an Advertisement and Runway Modeling. This year's Spokesmodel winner: Miss. Teen Bimini, Lathyra Tinker! Lathyra will now become the official face of Black Opal Cosmetics in The Bahamas! 1st runner-up Miss Teen Gorda Cay Shafayne Allen, 2nd runner-up Miss Teen Eleuthera Keithra Toote.

Dolphin Encounters ~ Thursday July 24thm 2008, Blue Lagoon Island new!!!
Some fun in the sun was just what the pageant doctor ordered for our contestants! After being officially launched to the world on July 23rd, our ladies were treated to a day of fun and relaxation with the Sea Lions and Dolphins at Dolphin Encounters on Blue Lagoon Island. Thank you to Dolphin Encounters for a wonderful experience.

After one month of rigorous rehearsals, stage and speech training, seminars and fun activities, our 18 beautiful, intelligent and poised contestants were officially launched to The Bahamian public and the world!

Our day started at
7am...and what a long day it turned out to be! While some contestants got their makeup and hair done by our professional Hair & Makeup Team, others played board games or watched a little television, while others caught up on their sleep. Our Hair Team: Nestaea Sealy & Theodore Sealy, Makeup Team: Santina Brown, Renae Brown and D'angelo Bethel.

3rd Annual Toastmaster's Speech Seminar ~ Sunday July 6th, 2008, Inagua Room, Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino new!!!
Our contestants were given some sound advice on speech development, speech writing and speech delivery by Toastmaster Dana Duncanson. Mr. Duncanson, a member of Toastmaster's Club 3596 conducted an interactive session with our 18 ladies where they also got a chance to give some impromptu speeches in preparation for the 3rd Annual Toastmaster's Speech Competition slated for August 10th, 2008.

Day of Brains & Beauty ~ Saturday July 5th, 2008, Inagua Room, Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino
What better way to begin our 2008 pageant season with our 18 contestants, than to treat them to an entire day of workshops on how to take care of their bodies and minds from the inside out? Our young ladies were given tons of information concerning Skin & Hair Care, Makeup Application, Public Speaking, Interview Techniques, Photoshoot Training, Personal Hygiene & Etiquette and a little bit of Mental Therapy with our annual Heart-to Heart Session. Seminar speakers included: MTBW Beauty Advisor Ms. Nestaea Sealy, Make up Artist Kenyatta Johnson, Speech Coach & Journalist Shenique Miller, Photographer Scharad Lightbourne, First Lady Patrice Ellis and Counsellor Patrice Clarke.
